Some people hate me for saying this, but one of the smartest things you can do in a relationship is to let your man contribute. Not because you can't do it yourself, but because according to behavioral psychology, effort creates attachment. When someone does something for you, even as small as opening a water bottle, the brain rationalizes that effort by increasing emotional value, and that creates attachment. It's also the IKEA effect where people literally love things more because they helped build them. Relationships work the same way. Research on male attachment theory shows that men feel closest when they're effective. That's why action builds connection. The man who plans the date stays invested, the man who solves the problem feels bonded, and the man who gives by choice feels essential. Strong women don't scare men. A relevance does.
