You have an iPhone with ChatGPT built in and you're still typing expenses into a spreadsheet. Your phone can snap a picture of a receipt, extract the details, categorize the purchase, and log it into your expense tracker automatically. Let me show you how to make your iPhone and ChatGPT keep track of your expenses for you. Open up the shortcuts app, tap new shortcut, the first action will add is select photo. Up next will add an action to use a model under apple intelligence. I'm going to use the ChatGPT model, then make sure you toggle down and select the output of dictionary. Because we're not trying to chat about the receipt, we want structured data. Then in the prompt right, extract the vendor name, total, date, and category for this purchase. Next we want to get the values out of the dictionary for each field that we listed. And then you can send that data wherever you want. Like you can add it to a new row in numbers or push it to a sheet in notion. Only on the same shortcut works for any info trapped in an image. It's a three part series where you snap a picture, extract the information, and then log it. And if you check out the automation tab on your shortcuts app, you can also automate any time you use apple pay, add it to the same expense log. Say this because your camera shouldn't just take pictures. It could take action.
