One of the most mysterious things that my doctor ever told me wasn't about sickness or aging or medication. It was about life. And why most of this don't only live it. He told me something so strange I had to sit there for a moment and wonder if he was speaking to me as a physician or a philosopher. He said you know most people who walk into my office aren't sick, they're starving. And I was like starving for what? He smiled the kind of smile people make when they're about to say something that they consider pretty important. He said they're starving for rest, for direction, for purpose, for the courage to say no. starving for real friendships, real love, real joy. Thing is no blood test can measure. He told me their bodies hurt because their hearts and minds are carrying loads. They never put down. I asked him what he meant. He said something I'll ever forget. He says your brain knows the truth before you do. When you keep living a life that doesn't fit you, the body starts whispering. Then if you don't listen, it will start yelling. I said they're thinking how many aches are really unspoken dreams? How many fatigues are actually years of pretending we're fine? How many symptoms are warnings that our soul is exhausted from carrying the weight of everyone else's expectations? My doctor kind of leaned back and said people think heart attacks start in the arteries. Sometimes and sometimes they start in a calendar filled with stuff that doesn't matter. You bring it on yourself sometimes with just stress and strain and all the things that you keep piling on yourself. Sometimes the most dangerous thing in your life isn't a disease. It's a routine that's killing who you're supposed to be. Then he said if you want to feel alive again, stop treating your life like something you're supposed to survive. Start treating it like something you're meant to experience. Life is an experience. It's the journey. It's the trip. It's all the little things. Then you kind of finished up with your body keeps the score but your spirit writes the script. Change the script and the body will follow. Your mind can help control what your body or how it reacts and how it does things. He didn't give you, he didn't pass along a magic cure but he passed along clarity. He passed along advice on how to keep your life easier and simpler in not letting all of the trappings of this world just pull you in and make you hard and tough. So if you're listening to this pay attention to the whispers in your life. They're trying to save you long before anything else becomes a crisis. You don't need to diagnosis to start healing. You just need permission. Your own permission to build a life that really feels like it belongs to you. So if this hits you, stay. I've got more of these stories and maybe just maybe one of them will be the one that changes your life. Hope this helps. Good advice. Hit follow for more tips, hacks, and life lessons.
