You see, months later, he opened that old instrumental again, and he wrote a full set of lyrics in just one day during a moment where he felt stressed, tired, overwhelmed, and fed up with everything happening in his life. So the words he wrote came from real things he was dealing with, like pandemic fatigue and self-hate, while he mixed it all with a style inspired by artists like 100 gecks. And when the song was finally finished, he named it Sugar Crash, but then, when he finally released the song, it ended up performing much better than he could have imagined, as it turns out, when he finally posted the song in late August, he thought maybe a few hundred people would hear it, yet TikTok grabbed it instantly and pushed it to millions of users within hours, as various creators started dancing to it and using it in their videos, while major labels started reaching out to Elie Otto to sign him, while he eventually signed with RCA Records, so that little bedroom experiment called Sugar Crash suddenly turned into one of the biggest viral songs of the entire year.
