What the hell happened to the Democratic Party? In the 1960s, Democrats were pro-capitalism, pro-growth, and pro-America. Today, over two-thirds now view socialism favorably. JFK was a Democrat, openly warned against socialism, backed free markets, and believed government should enable opportunity, not replace it. Even as recently as Obama, Democrats were still at big tent party. In 2009, only 36% of Democrats viewed socialism favorably. They were strong and border security, and even more moderate on abortion, so then what changed? Well, actually a lot. Social media rewarded outrage, primaries rewarded ideological purity, cultural issues replaced economic ones, and compromised stopped being a virtue. The growth of the wealth gap exacerbated divides, and the party shifted further left over time as a result. It then became more ideological or activist-driven, and less aligned with the median voter. But here's the part that people miss. As trust and government collapsed, voters became more desperate. In desperate people are drawn to big, simple, pie-in-the-sky promises. At the same time, the algorithm began to reward the loudest edges voices, not the most competent ones. That combination didn't just shift ideology. It changed to rises to power, and so the Democratic Party didn't just move left. It entered a feedback loop where distrust fuels extremism, and extremism fuels even more distrust. And I believe that the Democratic Party was at its best when it was the party of Kennedy, when it was patriotic, but still inclusive when it was pro-free market, but still concerned with the working class, and when it was decent, moderate, and not overly partisan, divisive, and leftist. And so I guess what I'm trying to say is that America needs to take its political parties back.

Make Republicans Actually Great Again! The main point is that the Republican Party would be better if it remembered and returned to its original principles. It would enjoy broader appeal, better serve all Americans, and work toward uniting us all rather than dividing us all. The direction of the modern party is divisive, even internally, and the movement is fracturing as a result. We deserve better from our parties. Hopefully by calling out both sides, we can make them better! Republican’s Key Historical Achievements: 1️⃣ Republican Party founded to abolish slavery. 2️⃣ President Lincoln issues the Emancicpation Proclimation calling for the abolition of slavery. 3️⃣ 13th, 14th, 15th amendments (Reconstruction amendment) introduced by Republicans and passed by a Republican majority. 4️⃣ 1866 + 1957 Civil Rights Acts proposed by and passed by mostly Republican votes. 5️⃣ 1964 Civil Rights Act introduced by LBJ but majority of its votes came from Republicans. 📝Note about party realignment: Yes, there was a realignment — especially in the South as a result of the “Southern Strategy”— but it wasn’t a clean flip where the parties simply traded ideologies. The Democratic Party gradually shifted left on cultural and social issues, while the Republican Party absorbed many former Southern Democrats. That process took decades and didn’t erase the earlier values each party once held. This video isn’t saying the parties are the same today — it’s showing how far they’ve moved from where they once were. —— #republicans #politics #History

The American Dream. 🇺🇸💭💵 Work hard. Buy a home. Raise a family. Retire with dignity. For decades… it wasn’t just a dream, it was a reality… until it wasn’t…. In 1960, the average home cost about twice the average income. Today? Five to six times as much. [National Association of Realtors, 2023; Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Home Ownership Affordability Monitor] College tuition used to cost hundreds a year. [U.S. Dept. of Education; College Board Historical Trends in College Pricing] Now it costs tens of thousands. [College Board, Trends in College Pricing 2023] One income used to support a family. Now it often takes two just to keep up. [Pew Research Center; Federal Reserve Survey of Consumer Finances] + [Raj Chetty et al., “The Fading American Dream,” Science, 2017] The dream didn’t disappear. It got priced out. So how the hell do we fix it? Build more housing. You cannot have affordable homes if you refuse to build homes. [Pew Research; New Zealand Ministry of Housing, 2023] Fix the education pipeline. Not everyone needs a four-year degree. Expand trade schools. Reward skill. Tie student loans to real job outcomes. Germany’s dual vocational training system consistently produces low youth unemployment and high wages without mass four-year college enrollment. [OECD Education at a Glance, 2023] Attack healthcare costs directly. Real price transparency. More competition. End the regulatory capture that protects middlemen. The U.S. spends nearly twice per capita on healthcare as other wealthy nations — with worse outcomes on several key measures. Reward work again. Lower the burden on middle-class families. Encourage small business formation. Create policies that make upward mobility possible. Small businesses account for roughly 44% of U.S. economic activity, yet startup formation rates have declined since the 1980s. [U.S.Brookings Institute] Because the American Dream wasn’t magic. It was math. And if it worked once… It can work again. But only if we build it. —— #america #usa #economics #politics #economy
