Pokemon XY and XYZ is renowned for being one of the best pieces of media in Pokemon history, but why? Whether you're a Pokemon XY diehard fan or a diehard hater, or just someone who genuinely wants to know more about why the series was so popular at its time, or even popular now, well that's the question we will be answering in today's YouTube video. Why was the XY series so popular? Now let me start off by saying that there are plenty, and I mean a plentiful amount of reasons as to why the XY series was so popular, but in today's YouTube video we're going to be talking about the main factors that was behind the popularity of the Pokemon XY series back then and today. Now we have a lot of big reasons as to why, but let's just start off with the most obvious one, mega evolution. Now the Pokemon XY games were the first actual piece of media that introduced mega evolutions, and likewise it was the Pokemon XY series that introduced it in the anime, because they're connected. Pokemon fans are ecstatic to use mega evolutions in the XY games, but they were even more so for the anime. Rightfully so too, the anime introduced mega evolutions in a much better way than the XY games did, and the anime felt like the mega evolutions were more than just a gimmick. It felt like it had an actual impact on the story. Not only that, but the anime gave you a lot more reasons to appreciate mega evolution because the anime introduced them in a way that wasn't just first person and third person views. The anime just got to show us how much more beautiful and cool these Pokemon mega evolutions were compared to their normal evolutions. We got to see so much personality and character traits between mega evolutions, as well as just other angles besides the first person and third person view we got in the games. Now I'm not trying to seem like I'm bashing Pokemon mega evolutions on the games, but I'm trying to say that there's a big difference between appreciating and looking at mega evolutions through a handheld console and a full-fledged anime on the big screen. You know what I mean? Now obviously it's a little bit unfair to compare a video game on a handheld console to an anime. It's just a major difference between like playing with bayblades in real life and actually seeing them zoom across the freaking stadium in the anime. But to top it all off we got to see how important mega evolutions were throughout the show and how cool it was to see how mega evolutions were just so much exponentially stronger than regular Pokemon. Now with the obvious reason out of the way let's go and move on to the two big main reasons as to why the XY series were so popular. Now these two reasons I'm going to mention can go hand in hand with each other but most people will argue that either one of them are more significant than the other. But overall they both played a significant factor as to why the XY series was so big. But now let's move on to the second to last reason and this reason will be the one that you guys have been waiting for in the video and that is going to be Greninja, specifically Astra Ninja. Now why is this Pokemon so important to the series? Because he was probably the main focus of the series. He completely changed the perception of mega evolution because he didn't even need a Megastone or Keystone to do it. And we thought this was impossible because the only other Pokemon that didn't need a Megastone or a Keystone to Mega Evolve was Ray Crazy. It was later even stated by Professor Sycamore that Bond Phenomenon was what Greninja and Ash's form was called. That's why they gave the name Ash Greninja to his Greninja. And later Professor Sycamore says that Bond Phenomenon could even be more powerful in the sense that Bond Phenomenon requires you to have a stronger bond than Mega Evolution. The point the anime was trying to make was that Greninja and Ash were so entuned with each other that it was like they both became one. In a sense they did. They can both sense and feel each other's pain and they can both sense each other's aura. This is also why Ash Greninja looks more like
