I think we have a what can I do problem with AI right now for all of 2025 even 2024 a lot of what I talked about on this channel was AI can now do X AI can now do Excel AI can now do PowerPoint AI could always do email at least for a year and a half now the point is we are past that point in other words AI can do all of that stuff now and so if you're looking for permission if you're looking for news to tell you AI can do that I got news for you it already can and now I think the question that you need to ask yourself is how do you want to shape AI in a way that makes your life work better so open clause a great example there are people who will tell you I use open claw for everything right Andre Carpathy apparently uses open claw to hack into his own music system and he controls his sonos smart speakers by just texting his open claw that's fantastic for Andre I don't feel like doing that so I don't I think the question I have for you and it's an increasingly an important one if AI can do just about anything and I mean like it can make your promotional videos it can make your art for you it can make your website for you it can do your email for you a question becomes where are you going to apply your expertise and your judgment to make something that you are building extraordinarily excellent where are you going to say I really care about this I want this to be good I want this to be something I'm proud of and so if that means I go a little bit slower and I work with AI in a little bit of a different way I'm fine with that because I want the craft to be there and then there's other places you're going to say you know what I just needed to work and ironically Andre is another example here and this is from a coder right Andre is a coder he he is on the record saying in an interview this week he's like you know what AI sometimes does it right perfect code for me I am learning to let it go because it is getting results that I want and that's an interesting moment of self-reflection from someone who has spent a lot of time watching the space and so it's a moment of reflection I've been having too because I've talked to you so much over the last months and years about AI can now do this or that and increasingly I think it's going to be important for us to ask ourselves and it's a very individual answer what do we want AI to do and then how can we develop the skills that we need to get it to do that how can we make sure that we understand so for example let's say you want help with figuring out how to schedule five or six different people across different shifts at your work site well AI can help you with that and there's an easy way and there's a slightly harder way and both are totally possible for someone who's not technical the super easy way is to just throw everything into a chatbot now and it will just give you the schedule for the week the slightly harder way is to build a mini little app that will check for scheduling information from everyone and pull it all together automatically and email you the schedule and you can do both and if you don't know how to do the second one I swear you can just upload this transcript stick it into Claude stick it into chat GPT stick it into Gemini and it'll help you build it that's that's how easy it's become and so what's your intent what do you want to do what is what is the thing you want to shape AI to do because increasingly there is no more reasonable business oriented projects that AI hasn't fundamentally solved and so the question becomes if I want to make something excellent where do I want to lean in and like put my high judgment my taste my excellence where do I want to let AI do it so you tell me in the comments where do you see I can be extraordinary at X or Y I don't want AI to do it and then where do you see yeah AI can do that let me know cheers
