I retook a vulnerability assessment and this happened…

I retook a vulnerability assessment that I did two years ago in 2024. My score change is kind of crazy. Let me preface that 2024 was quite the challenging year, okay? It was the year after I quit my job and I just, God, did not know what the heck was going on. This is Burnay Brown's Leadership Assessment. It's fully based on your vulnerability scores and it's completely free by the way. This isn't a promotion, which I knew Burnay Brown one day. And it assesses four areas of vulnerability. It's from a scale of one to ten and my biggest jump was my approach to vulnerability going from 5.4 to a 7.5. Went from dead last in 2024 to my top score this year, which is kind of weird and insane. That wasn't a mindset shift, it was more of a behavior shift. So here are some of the behavioral things that I changed. I practiced saying the raw thing instead of the right thing. To do this, I would stop myself from overthinking and just do something even if I was like 25% prepared. I made making mistakes a goal. I know that sounds strange because when you think about it, life is basically just made up of a bunch of mistakes. Success is the worst teacher. This one's gonna be hard to admit, but I was really afraid people would not think I was smart enough. Despite building a whole business on my career advice, I would hide behind research and stats instead of my own opinions. So I started just saying my opinions first. It cost me an old version of myself that felt like she needed to earn the respect of others through research and insights. I'm a person with opinions and those opinions matter. I surrounded myself with people who give me real and direct feedback. This did cost me some friendships and professional relationships. So I encourage you to benchmark yourself as humbling as it could be. You will thank yourself because you can actually see the difference between where you were then and where you are now.
