This is what it would look like if Manhattan was expanded further into the New York Harbor. It is a real proposal made by economics professor Jason Barr, who argues that by reclaiming land here, to grow Manhattan from its pit, the city could make room for housing in additional 250,000 people, and he even argues that this project would help protect the city from storms, as it would place vulnerable areas like Wall Street, further away from the harsh forces of storms. Lower Manhattan would be located further inland, and the new expansion can be built with higher elevation to protect from flooding. Do you think these plans sound good?
