The Titanic rests at nearly 3,800 meters below the surface, and that's still only the middle of the ocean. The first 200 meters are the ocean we know, sunlight, color, life. But that's only about 2% of its total depth. Drop past that, and everything disappears, light fades, pressure rises fast, the water turns black. Keep descending, 1,000, and you're still far from the Titanic. At 3,800 meters, the wreck lies in absolute darkness. Crushed by a pressure so strong, it would feel like two high-speed trains squeezing your body from both sides. To us, it feels like the bottom of the world, but the ocean keeps going. Below the Titanic begins the abyss, 4,000, 5,000, 6,000 meters. A frozen world where only a few creatures can survive, and then come the trenches. Some drop to 11,000 meters. Just to imagine it, that's the altitude where commercial airplanes fly, but flipped upside down beneath the ocean. Only a handful of humans have ever reached that depth, including James Cameron, diving alone into a pressure beyond anything the surface could ever create. So yes, the Titanic is deep, but in the scale of Earth's ocean, it's only halfway down.
