Today I'm going to be talking about transistors. Transistors are the combination of two words, transfer and resistor. So what is a transistor? Transistors are usually used for two things, which is for switches or for amplifying. Because of transistor's ability to amplify it, they can actually be used as a replacement for vacuum tube in a lot of cases. There are two different types of bipolar transistors. You have your NPNs or your PNPs. An NPN transistor is going to actually combine our current into one. Whereas a PNP transistor is actually going to divide our current. In the diagram, if you see this arrow, this arrow is actually going to face away from our current. So if our current is going into this, it is being split by the base and the collector. Whereas in an NPN, it's going to be the opposite. The positive current will be going through both of these ends and being combined over here into the emitter.
