Amazing with my kids, gentle with visitors, zero aggression, perfect family dog for cuddling and intimidating appearance. Then someone broke into my California garage at 2am. My mastiff was sleeping inside the house, didn't bark, didn't wake up. I found out the next morning from my ring camera got a rottweiler at 115 pounds. Family said I downgraded from gentle giant. First month they missed the mastiff's cuddly personality. Then someone tried my front door handle at 11pm. Rottweiler went from sleeping on the couch to the door in two seconds. Bark so deep it shook the windows, person ran before even opening the door. English mastiffs are bred for gentle companionship and appearance.
