I didn't know how badly I wanted somebody to look at me that way until you did. Like you saw right into the center of me. Not the version I show, but the one I've hidden, even for myself. You looked at me like I was soft, not broken, like I was worth learning, not fixing. Like you've been searching for someone just like me without even knowing it. And something in me calmed, like my heart finally stopped running. Like all the too muchness in me finally fit somewhere. You were the last thing I ever saw come in, but the first thing that ever made me feel safe. And when you said you saw something in me, I finally started to believe it was there. Not because I needed you to see me, but because you reminded me how to see myself.
