What Happens When Bamboo is Compressed 😮
@theupbeatzoneTranscript
Bamboo is compressed, heated, and molded under a pressure of 1,200 tons at temperatures between 120 and 140 degrees Celsius. You see, the process starts with harvesting and cutting the bamboo stalks into strips, which are then heated at 120 to 140 degrees Celsius to remove moisture, kill bacteria, and prevent mold. After sterilization, the strips are treated with resin-based adhesive and arranged in a mold. An immense hydraulic press applies up to 1,200 tons of pressure, compressing the bamboo into a dense block. This creates strand woven bamboo flooring, which is more than twice as hard as traditional bamboo flooring. The enhanced structure improves resistance to dense, scratches, and humidity-related issues like warping or contracting. As a result, bamboo flooring offers both natural beauty and strength and durability for high traffic environments.
