If you've been online lately, then you've probably seen the maxing trend from looks-maxing, sleep-maxing, protein-maxing, we're maxing everything. And now, apparently, we are poop-maxing. Yes, we are optimizing our gut schedules and our bowel movement and we are telling the world about it. Everyone from poop-maxing influencers, yes, I can't believe I just said that, to regular fitness and health junkies are sharing their poop-with-me videos, poop-maxing haul videos, like has the world literally gone bad. People are choking down, psyllium husk jellies and chia seed water, like there's no tomorrow, and frankly, I am just so over-maxing everything. Not everything needs to be optimized, like, especially things that sort themselves out, if you know what I mean. As much as I'm skeptical, I know there are some benefits. Trends like this do help to raise awareness for how much fiber we need to be getting, and I think learning more about your body and its movements is, on a whole, a good thing. I spoke to Dr. Zac who said that if you are going to jump on this trend, then there are a few tips to make sure that you do it correctly. For example, he said go slow and low and give your body the time it needs to adjust to any massive fiber and diet changes. Otherwise, you might end up constipated, which ironically is the thing that you're probably trying to avoid. Traditionally, it's been a bit of a TMI subject, so I think any trend that helps us just normalize such a natural bodily function is, on the whole, a good thing.
