This man steps onto the scale, still shoving a bite of buttered bread into his mouth. All just to make weight. "Take you at 185." Shull successfully earns a chance to fight the boxing champion, Kohler. Every competitor in the ring is determined to win, all fighting for that honor. When it's time for Luzai and Shull's match, the chairs are almost completely one-sided. Everyone chanting Luzai's name. Because of Shull's past mistakes, Luzai had been punished countless times. Luzai assumes he's still the same rookie he used to be, constantly taunting and provoking him. The entire crowd is stunned. The weakling who used to just take beatings, now knocks down a widely respected fighter. With just one punch, Shull advances smoothly to the semi-finals, and that arrogant look in his eyes. Makes Kohler's fists itch for a fight. On a stormy night, Kohler suddenly calls all the male cadets out for training. He deliberately quizzes Shull on theoretical knowledge. But unexpectedly, Shull answers every question perfectly without missing a word. During this time, he hasn't just focused on physical training. He's also been studying theory late into the night. All to become a qualified naval officer. But Kohler isn't swayed by this. He orders everyone to dismiss and leave. Except for Shull, who must stay and continue doing push-ups. His comrades behind him turn back. They silently rejoin the formation, willing to share in Shull's punishment. The one leading them is Luzai, who once looked down on him. Through his actions, Shull has earned the respect and acceptance of his fellow soldiers. By the semi-finals, he tears through every opponent. With his rapidly improving skills, even Kohler's strongest fighter can't last two rounds. He easily secures his spot in the finals, earning the right to face the boxing champion, Kohler. Before the finals, Shull can't help himself. He goes to the shipyard where his father works, hoping his father will come witness this final showdown. But his father refuses, claiming he's too busy with work. Ever since his mother passed away, he and his father have lost their bridge of communication. Watching Shull walk away, his father seems to realize something. Meanwhile, little black faces his biggest challenge. The final physical fitness test of the semester. Kohler demands everyone complete the course within five minutes. Otherwise, they'll be expelled. Little black clears one obstacle after another. The bars that defeated him countless times before. He can finally climb over now. Everyone keeps pushing forward. Forging unbreakable spirits one by one. This is the first time little black has ever completed the test. But just as everyone cheers for him, Kohler announces with a stern face. Little black's time is five minutes and four seconds, which means he's about to be expelled. Shull immediately steps forward to plead for him. Give little black one more chance. He believes little black can do it, but all he gets in return. His Kohler's cold, emotionless stare. After all the hardships to get into the naval academy. In the end, just four seconds short. His future in dreams are shattered. Little black is the pride of everyone in his hometown. The moment he received his acceptance letter. The mayor personally awarded him a medal of honor. He didn't just get into an ordinary school. He carries the hopes and dreams of his fellow townspeople. His greatest fear is letting everyone down. "I don't want to let anyone down. You're going to work this out. It's going to be fine." "Don't just stop me, Jake, okay?" "Just over!" "I don't belong here, okay?" "You belong here." Little black cannot accept this reality. He pushes away Shull, who's trying to help the overwhelming burden crashes down on him. In the end, little black chooses to jump off the building to end his weakness. By the time Shull arrives, he's barely breathing. And the one responsible for all of this appears in the crowd. Shull froze himself at Kohler without hesitation. Luckily, everyone reacts fast enough. They separate the two before things get worse. But even so, everyone has witnessed him striking a superior officer. He decides to voluntarily withdraw from school. Before the disciplinary committee makes its ruling. Unexpectedly, Kohler requests to the committee. But the ruling be postponed until after the finals. Kohler understands. Shull has spent an entire year preparing for this fight. Both of them want a battle they can give everything to.
