The thing about a man who communicates clearly and consistently is that most women who have never experienced that before do not actually know how to receive it. They have been so conditioned by mixed signals and breadcrumbing and emotional unavailability that when a man simply shows up and says what he means and means what he says, something about it feels suspicious or too easy or somehow not exciting enough to trust. And so they test it or push against it or convince themselves that something must be wrong with him, because real men are supposed to be complicated and hard to read, but that is not romance.
