Middle East is very serious. I had a very tough conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu because the situation in Lebanon is getting more dangerous by the day. I told him very clearly that the entire region is under pressure and that every decision being made right now could have massive consequences. Israel says it is targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon because attacks have continued against northern Israeli communities. At the same time, the military operation has expanded deeper into Lebanese territory and that has created major international concern. Many countries are now worried that this conflict could grow much larger and pull more nations into it. I also understand that negotiations involving Iran are at a very delicate stage and when tensions rise like this diplomacy becomes much more difficult.
