Today we're going over the San Diego Jam Knot, which is a knot that's often used with very heavy line for very heavy fish, so think tuna, blue cats, stripers, things like that. The first step is to place your line through the eye of the lure or the circle hook, which is something that is not often used with, and bring about 8 or 10 inches of line through. Then take your thumb and your index finger and pinch this a few inches up from the lure. Then you're going to want to put your pinky in this loop here so that you can hold this loop really tight as you wrap. You're going to take this tag end and wrap it down the line four or five times. If you're using really light line, you might want to do more, but this not usually isn't used with very light line. So then you're going to take your tag end and place it through this loop here, pull that kind of tight along with the other wraps, and then place your line through this last loop up here at the top. Okay, now you can grab the lure and the tag, pull on those to cinch that up a little bit. Now you're going to want to wet the line between the knot and the lure, and once you've done that, you can pull on the main line to send that knot down, give it a nice tug to cinch it up and then cut the tag off and you are all done.
