South Tyrol has changed hands, been redrawn on maps, and pulled in three directions at once. You see it on most signs, every place name written in Italian, German, and Ladin, a language that has held its ground for centuries. Alpe di Siusi is no different. Three names for the same plateau. Around 800 years ago this was dense spruce forest, cleared by hand to create grazing land, farmed every summer since. Today it’s one of the most accessible places to experience the Dolomites. Rolling meadows, cozy Rifugio huts, and views of the Sassolungo and Sciliar massif in every direction. Dozens of hiking trails across the plateau, from easy walks to longer mountain routes. The easiest way up is by cable car from Siusi, but you can also drive up, but the road is closed to private traffic between 9 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. If you’re in the Dolomites, be sure to not skip this one! 📍 Alpe di Siusi, South Tyrol, Italy #travel #dolomites #italy #seiseralm #Hiking
