There's one thing I absolutely can't stand in this job and that's when someone tries to make me part of a scam. The other day a guy brought me a car for a resale detail. He was stressed, talking loudly, saying the buyer would arrive in two hours and the car needed to shine. He tells me, "Just spray loads of fragrance inside." Forget the details, it just needs to look good quickly. The moment I stepped inside, I knew something was wrong. A heavy damp smell filled the interior, barely covered by several air fresheners hanging everywhere. While vacuuming, I noticed the driver's floor mat was unusually wet. I ignored his instructions, lifted the carpet, and immediately saw the truth. Underneath, everything was green with mold. The insulation was soaked with brown water. You could even clearly see the waterline on the doors. That car wasn't just damp, it had been completely flooded. A disguised wreck. Even the frame had already started rusting from the inside. And right at that moment, the seller came back with the buyers. A young couple. Ready to sign the paperwork. The seller winked at me. Like he was saying, stay quiet and take your money. At that moment, I had two choices. Stay silent and get paid. Or tell the truth and lose the customer. I looked at the couple and imagined the problems they'd be dealing with in a few months, so I deliberately left the carpet lifted and set out loud. Careful, don't touch that, that's the water damage I was talking about. The seller instantly turned pale. The couple cancelled the deal immediately. I lost the customer, but I kept my conscience.
