Blow my mind. There is a species of fish that's entirely female. So how do they reproduce? They do reproduce with a male fish of another species which I do not condone and then they will delete all of the DNA that they get from him. He just activates their egg and then they will clone themselves and then have that baby. So they're cloning themselves with their own egg and then birthing their own selves as a clone. Yeah and they've been doing this for like hundreds of thousands of years. I feel like we learned in science class that if there's no like genetic diversity and variability within a species it means that they're going to go extinct. They're able to avoid that because they do gene conversion where they replace sequences of DNA on a chromosome if it's like mutated and supply like that. Why do you think you feel personally drawn to these fish? Because I would love the ability to reproduce without using a man's DNA. Sorry to the boys. Emily, you blew my mind.
