You don't need a big room, just a quiet, private space to call your own. And in part two, I'm continuing the transformation of a forgotten space, less than 25 square feet beneath my stairs, into my dream gaming pod. After finishing a few upgrades to the sliding seat system, including a recline stop and a locking mechanism that lets me sit upright when needed, I gave the wall a fresh coat of paint to make the space feel a little more refreshed. To make the sliding seat even more comfortable, I added a padded backrest by mounting a cushion to a wooden panel and securing it to the chair, making the whole set up much more comfortable to sit in for extended periods. With the basic structure done, I focused on comfort in finishing details. To hide nearly 400 upholstery staples, I used thin walnut trim to cover the staple lines for a cleaner look. I also figured out a way to adjust the monitor to the perfect height while allowing it to slide out of the way whenever I need to get in or out. And with the unique shape of this room, a full-to-way keyboard tray was pretty much a necessity. Since this is supposed to be a secret room, having a visible door handle on the outside would kind of defeat the purpose. So instead, I carved a recessed pole directly into the door, making it easy to open while keeping the hidden look intact. And with that, a forgotten space beneath my stairs has been transformed into the secret gaming pod I always dreamed of having. It's not big, and it's definitely not extravagant.
