My wife and I were tired of just dreaming about freedom. We wanted to actually live it, so we bought this old van and decided to turn it into our home, with everything you'd find in a tiny house. We built a custom pop top roof for just $1,400. The cheapest one out there. And just like that, our cramped little van doubled in size with full standing room and an extra bed up top plus a view of the night sky from inside our own home. But here's the thing, this old van cost us $5,000. And honestly, we only had 4,000 left in our savings to make this whole dream happen. The pop top alone took 1,400. That left us just $2,600 to build everything else. So the real question is, can two people with no build experience actually pull this off? Or are we about to lose everything?
