Using Claude, I built a model to predict the Mexico vs Ecuador match, and this one's our defense of rock fight. My model calculates out the exact odds of every possible scoreline. For the nerds, it's a negative binomial digs and goals model. My model is a bit more cautious than the market with Mexico at 40%, draw at 32%, Ecuador at 28%. The reason it's so tight, both teams grade out at 84 on defense, and Mexico hasn't conceived a single goal all tournament. Ecuador R66 in attack, Mexico 72. The expected goals are small, Mexico 1.16, Ecuador at 0.90. The projected score is 0-0, both teams to score is only 38%. I'm leaning hard under, and this is a real candidate for penalties. The model gives Mexico the edge to advance at 56%, mostly off the home crowd, but it says scoreless and regulation, so we'll see what happens.
