On November 1, 1998, this man decided to start walking to become the only person in history to walk around the entire planet. Carl Bush began his journey from the southern edge of Chile. His goal was to walk all the way back home to Hall, England. No planes, no cars, just his legs. Carl started in Chile, then walked through Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. He successfully crossed the Darian gap, one of the most dangerous jungles on Earth. He moved into Central America, then through Mexico, the United States, Canada, and finally Alaska. There, he faced the bearing straight. Winter turned the sea to ice, and Carl walked across it, becoming the first person in history to walk from America to Russia. He then pushed through the frozen wastelands of Siberia, where temperatures dropped to minus 73 degrees Celsius. Then came Mongolia, China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. But in 2024, the Caspian Sea blocked his path. Russia and Iran refused him entry, so Carl did the unthinkable. He swam 259 kilometers across the sea, entered Azerbaijan, and continued on to Turkey. And now 25 years later, Carl has finally stepped into Europe. He hopes to be home by September 2026.
