Here are five things I learned about the brain this week that I literally can't stop thinking about. You make better decisions in the morning. The part of your brain responsible for logic and self-control gets fatigued throughout the day. It's called decision fatigue, and by the night you're running on impulse, which is why you'll send that risky text at one in the morning, but not at 9am. Your brain literally mirrors the emotions of the people you spend the most time with. It's called neural coupling. If you are constantly around negative or anxious chaotic people, your brain is going to sink up with their brain frequencies. It's not even that you're picking up on their energy. It's that your brain is understanding a pattern and reusing it. You're more likely to remember something if you learn it right before you fall asleep. While you're sleeping, your brain consolidates memories. So whatever you feed it is being processed and stored overnight. So be careful what you feed your brain within the last hour of falling asleep. I already knew this one, but it always shocks me every time I hear about it. Your brain physically changes shape when you repeatedly do something. It's called neural plasticity. So if you spend every day overthinking, your brain is going to get better overthinking. If you spend your days choosing to create new thoughts, your brain will actually create new pathways. So through your daily habits, you can quite literally build your brain every single day. This last one is going to be the most important brain fact that I want you to comprehend today. It's that your inner voice is perceived by your brain the same way as if an outside person is talking to you. So when you say I'm so stupid, I can't do this. Your brain is perceiving this as if somebody just said it to your face. If you wouldn't say that to somebody else, then you cannot get away with saying it to yourself. Clock it and stop it. Don't be a bystander while you actively bully yourself. Shut it down. I love the brain and I have so many more facts that I wanted to tell you guys. So I'm going to make part two on this video. Get ready. It's going to be awesome.
