Single sex toilets will soon only be used based on your birth gender and not the gender you identify as. New guidance coming into place on August 5th will mean places can exclude transgender men and women from single sex-only spaces. Like toilets, changing rooms and hospital wards across the whole of England, Scotland and Wales. The guidance suggests unisex spaces such as lockable cubicles could still be allowed for everyone though. It comes more than a year after the Supreme Court confirmed the definition of a woman as a biological woman. For women Scotland who were behind the Supreme Court case have previously said the new code is to offer practical help for what is already law. The Transplus Solidarity Alliance said it could lead to widespread harm to those who don't conform to gender stereotypes.
