#OTD in 2016, 49 people were killed in a mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Pulse was more than a nightclub. It was a gathering place, a refuge and a celebration of LGBTQ+ community, especially for Latinx LGBTQ+ people. We remember the lives taken, stand with the survivors and loved ones, and recommit to confronting hate and violence in all forms. We remember their names. We honor their lives. #OrlandoStrong #OrlandoUnited #TheMarchContinues

49 people went out to dance that night, to celebrate life, to be free, but they never came home. The Pulse Nightclub shooting was an attack on love, on joy, on the right to simply exist as who you are. It was one of the deadliest mass shootings in US history and it targeted the LGBTQI+ community intentionally, but from that grief came voices. Demanding change, demanding protection, demanding that our lives not be treated as disposable. Remember their names, honor their lives. Demanding change.
