Here's how I price every residential cleaning job and why I never charged by the hour. My name is Citi, I'm a six-figure cleaning business owner helping other cleaning business owners grow. I only charge by square footage and here's why. We typically don't do partial clean, so no just the kitchen or just the bathroom, right? We clean the whole house. For our team, it's just not worth sending anyone out. Our price is always going to be based off of the size of the home. So a bigger home means a bigger price in our jobs, always start at $450 and then they always go up depending on square footage and the condition of the space. For deep cleans, we're usually charging 30 to 35 cents per square foot and honestly anything under 30 cents a square foot, you're leaving money on the table. That number needs to be there for you to pay your cleaners well and still walk away with some profit. Now here's why I don't charge hourly. Hourly pricing confuses a lot of people and honestly props to anyone that does charge hourly and their clients understand how it works, but it just doesn't work for me personally. So from my experience, the client only sees the total number and if the job takes longer than they expected, they start questioning it. They don't care why it took longer. They just see a bigger bill. Now honestly, I don't have time for that conversation on every single job. It also messes with your cleaners pay too, so if you're paying someone hourly and now they're just deciding how long the job should actually be. So when you price the job instead, none of that matters, right? The price already accounts for the time is going to take and everyone knows how much money is going into their pockets or out of their pockets. So no confusion, no arguments, no more guessing, right? We just want to make the process simple. So if you found this helpful, follow me for more cleaning business content.
