Check this out. Why do we have billionaires and people starving on the street? In the richest country in human history, we somehow accept both at the same time. Private jets and empty stomachs, record corporate profits and tense cities. It's treated like a law of nature. It's not. Look at the Nordic countries, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland. They're not utopias and not pure socialist experiments. They are market economists with billionaires, global companies and competitive businesses. Yet extreme poverty and people freezing to death on a sidewalk are vanishingly rare. How? They decided that certain things are not for sale. Healthcare, education, child care, basic security and hard times. They tax wealth and high incomes seriously and then use that money to make sure the floor under every citizen is high enough that no one falls through into the street. The result is not the death of ambition, it's the opposite. People take risks because failure does not mean homelessness or medical bankruptcy. Businesses still grow, innovation still happens. But the entire society is not organized around extracting every last dollar from the people who already have to beast.
