10 days before my sentencing here and I learned the feds were going to ask for 41 months in prison that the day of my sentencing 24 months and his judge Wilson was going through the sentence something really interesting happened and it ties into a conversation I had this morning with a victim and her victimizer is getting sentenced tomorrow for a cryptocurrency scheme and she's like what is he thinking is he suffering can I speak directly I said she said yes here's the truth some victimizers they don't care they say they're sorry because they got caught whatever they need to do to try to get the best outcome but too many are focused on themselves how their own life is falling apart in some cases I think I accepted responsibility most people do yet as I was getting sentenced and as I heard the number like I didn't care is a defendant you go through so much you hurt people you hurt yourselves you hurt your family in my case I didn't live with dignity I couldn't overcome struggle I ruined my reputation my career my licenses I'm on the cover of the New York Times in LA Times as a criminal is scum so by like the time you get sentenced I told her it's like blah whatever whatever the number is I don't care because I'm so numb to all of this fall up you've got to become more stoical through struggle at least I did I can't tell you she loved hearing this though she appreciated my honesty and at the end of the day I said what do you really want she said I just I want my money back that's what all victims want their money back which is why I reiterate we should stop sending people to minimum security camps let the person work in the community and pay the lion's share back to victims
