How does the Book of Mormon unlock or explain the Old Testament? Mm-hmm. Actually, I would change it a bit. No, sure. My reading the Old Testament has meant that my reading of the Book of Mormon makes way more sense. Oh, okay. So we typically, the question you ask is a really good one. Yeah. And I think it's a question we should continue to pursue asking for all of us. Like, how can I understand other scriptures because of the restoration text? Sure, yeah. And, by the way, the Book of Mormon is the foundation for the restoration. We often pin it on the first vision. Oh, yes, yeah, right. Joseph Smith in 1823 is like, "I'm wondering about things in my life. I know I can get answers if I pray." So he prays again. And that's where he gets the angelic visitor, Moroni. He's told about the plates, the connection to Malachi chapter four and other Joel and Isaiah and the other references, and then all the sequences of visiting Hill, Kamora getting the plates, the massive process that he went through to translate. I'm just saying this out because everything we have in the gospel starts after the Book of Mormon, at least from September of 1823. And so we should be asking, how does the Book of Mormon unlock understanding church government as we get into the doctrine of covenants? How does it help us understand the Savior? You call this another testament of Jesus Christ. And by the way, I'm going to provide an alternative subtitle in the moment. And then how do we understand the Old Testament? So I can, I actually, because my Old Testament studies have found that the Old Testament unlocks the Book of Mormon for me. Sure. And what are some examples of that? So the Old Testament provides, I think, the first examples of the clearest expressions of covenants. Sure. So if we look at the title page here, the title page says multiple things like it's the purpose of the Book of Mormon is the witness of Jesus Christ. It also tells us it is to remind people, I don't have it memorized, I'm actually going to read it right here. I can borrow this copy. Yep. That is yours to keep in fact. And are you confident this is an accurate rendition? I, you haven't read every word just to verify that it's related to the source text. I do not have my scousing original text on me now. All right. I think there's like probably four purpose statements in the title page, including this one in the middle of the second paragraph. The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to show onto the remnant of the house of Israel what great things the Lord had done for their fathers. Now if you take a look at the Exodus story, God says again and again, the marvelous deed that He's doing to deliver the people from the clutches of Burrow is so they might know who He is.
