I saw this article that someone else posted because they said is that really the problem with establishing this mode of relationships for teen boys, which is a good point, but it made me think of something else. If you watched the last season of Black Mary, you saw the first episode where the wife gets a chip put in her brain and in order to continue having an ad-free living experience, they need to keep paying increasingly exorbitant subscription costs. That is actually how a lot of tech operates once it launches its freedom market and once people are reliant on it or just used to it, the cost goes up. And that is what is currently happening with AI. Most of the tools are free to begin with, but then if you want increased memory, explicit chats or other features, you have to pay subscription costs. At the moment, a lot of those are subsidized, but in the future, in order for these companies to be profitable, they won't be. So imagine these people building relationships. For some of them, the first and only relationship they have ever had with these chat bots, only to find out in a year or so, they're giving the majority of their paycheck to a company to allow them to continue them. And in Black Mirror, we saw the premise where it involved a human person and we can all understand what we would sacrifice for our loved ones, but how horrific to contemplate doing that for the company of something that isn't even real.
