a really big side effect of trauma is having this incessant obsession with understanding everything. I know many people who have survived high degrees of trauma can testify to this. When it comes to nervous system understanding, people who do who have experienced high degrees of trauma and when I say trauma I mean examples of abuse, neglect, just all around not having your needs met, along with chaos, these types of people typically become extreme overthinkers and I've said it in one of my first videos ever, constant overthinking is a survival strategy. It's a form of survival and when people grow up with high degrees of trauma there is the survival adaptation that they inherit and develop of I need to understand everything because when these types of people understand everything or try to understand everything that by nature helps them regulate their nervous system but it does in fact keep them in this incessant loop of trying to understand everything so it's almost like it helps regulate them but then it keeps them in survival so it's just this incessant loop but I just want people to understand that the more trauma you possess if you find yourself being the type of person that just really needs to understand everything that's happening at all times almost no one understand that's an adaptation and there's nothing wrong with that but if you don't discern how much you forced yourself to understand everything second by second it can literally drive you insane and in some ways it can keep you stuck in that loop of trauma.
