Mortgage rates are up. Is it time to panic about the housing market? Let's talk about it. Rates right now on average are at 6.9%, which is the highest they have been since last year in June. Does this mean that you shouldn't buy a house right now? I'm going to tell you what I'm telling my clients. You buy a house right now based on if the monthly payment is something you can comfortably afford and the rate would take care of itself over time. I nor no one else can predict exactly where the rates are going to go because all the forecasts at the beginning of the year said that right now we would be at 5.8 to 6.1% and we're nowhere near that because there's a lot of things that control rates and it's very hard to predict. So if home ownership is a goal of yours don't let where rates are affect that decision focus on what is your monthly budget and find a house that can fit into that budget and go ahead and buy the home and the rate will take care of itself over time.
