I'm deep in the line edits for my debut action adventure fantasy novella called "Essent of the Ironborn" it's coming out December 1st and one of the things that I'm doing during this round of edits is looking for more interesting ways to say certain things. So I'm broadening my vocab and we're going to do a mini series about some of the vocab that I've learned. This story takes place in Winery Mountains as the main character Kahari is climbing a mountain kind of in a survival of the fittest, coming of age rate in an attempt to join the Ironborn, aka the white-bellied whipping riders that live among the peaks of these mountains. Obviously because it's a wintery setting, she's very cold and at one point in the story she gets goose bumps and I was trying to come up with a better way to say it than using the word goose bumps because it didn't really feel like it fit and then I came across the word "heripilation" which is apparently the noun for getting goose bumps, a bristling of the hair of the head or body as from fright or excitement. Before researching, I didn't know that was a word. So did it make the book? No. Not this time at least, maybe in the future.
