I have a perspective on the cyclical nature of antisemitism, and this is coming from a Jew who has often been the Tolkien Jew in environments where I've lived most of my adult life, and this is also zoomed out from the past few years. This is just looking at historical trends. As we know, Jews often have been exiled and excommunicated from different places in which we've inhabited, and as a result of this, we've become much more insular knowing that the public has kind of banished us historically. And we have to, as a consequence, give back to our own and build ourselves up. This breeds a tremendous sense of insularity and pride, so all the investments that Jews offer to society and to each other and to the world are viewed as strengths. From the Jewish perspective, look how much we have accomplished despite half of us being exterminated. So there is plight and there is overcoming plight and adversity, which is a tremendous source of pride from the Jewish perspective. Ironically, that same source of pride I think can be viewed in a conspiratorial lens from those who are not Jewish because when you're Jewish and you become more insular, tribally, and you simultaneously invest in society when you're trying to assimilate, it can be viewed as like who are these illusive people who are claiming positions of power who are behind new theories and ways of thinking and academia and compositions and be arts and entertainment in all of these ways in which we've contributed, we become perfect targets for conspiracy theories. Because also Jews don't proselytize, so they're not concerned about people converting to Judaism and as much as we do invest in society, we're simultaneously kind of tribal and insular as a consequence of survival. So I noticed this pattern of excommunication and exile, breeding insularity, breeding skepticism, breeding exile, and it's not cool, but it's just a theory I have and I'm very curious to hear if other people agree with this or disagree with this.
