explaining yourself or justifying yourself all the time is a response to feeling unseen and unheard. And the way to combat this that I've learned to my own experience and the work I've done in therapy is to stop justifying yourself, to sit in the discomfort of doing what you want or being who you want without having to explain why to anybody. This is a difficult process, don't get me wrong, but this is where moving in silence is really really important. The more you hold back, explaining yourself or justifying yourself, the more you're telling yourself that your opinion is the most important. Because the only person you're explaining yourself to or justifying yourself to is you. And that means not asking anybody in your life for advice, not telling them what your plans are before you just do those things and show up as that person or that version of yourself. And of course, there's nothing wrong with feeling confident in your successes or confident in your goals. But I think when you are in the early stages of this process, sharing any of that can really be detrimental to your progress and be detrimental to the way you see yourself and your value and your worth. Stay silent on the things that you want to do or the things you're trying to achieve until you feel comfortable knowing that your opinion is the most important opinion to you. Because then when others input their opinion because they will, it won't shake you and it won't make you change your direction on your path.
