The blink of an eye, everything, you know, it could change. On August 9th, the life of Lakisha Beeland and Justin Charles' son, Jaceeon, went from playful to painful. My biggest fear, where everything is, you know, my child, you know, might not be the same person that he was at first. Just a rough situation, you know, to see him laying in the hospital being like he is. As the incident, Jaceeon has been on a ventilator, suffered from kidney failure, brain damage, had multiple surgeries, and even coded twice. That's hard, you know, on me. According to the family, Jaceeon was burned while staying at a friend's house in Warren. There, they were roasting hot dogs, and that's when the family says the fire erupted. You would think by him being burned, the way he was burned, you would think that they would call the police, and nobody was called. This leaves the family of Jaceeon wondering why authorities weren't called during this emergency. So many people dropped the ball, there should be a hill accountable. Earl Charles, Jaceeon's grandfather says that he was quick to contact police to begin an investigation. Just to know the truth, because what they're saying, I just don't buy it. But after nearly two months, the family says investigators seldomly reached out. On Thursday, I was notified by Arkansas State Police that they will be taking over the investigation. They may have lost some important evidence with it being this long. All they want is the truth, accountability, and for Jaceeon to be all right. We're just going to seek the faith, you know, everything turns out all right, and he's back to the normal Jaceeon. Jaceeon Charles, the eight-year-old who was severely burned and worn. He spent the last five months recovering at Children's Hospital, but tonight he's finally back home with his family. Gary Burton, Jr. Jr., is now in the studio with an update on the boys' future. Gary, that's where Jaceeon is finally home. His burns led him to being on a ventilator, suffering from kidney failure, brain damage, multiple surgeries, and he even cold it twice. But now it's all happiness for the eight-year-old's family, as they know he'll be okay. But they still believe things that just don't add up the investigation into how this happened is ongoing by State Police. For a long road of recovery, Jaceeon Charles has two words for all those who prayed for him. Thank you. His mother, LaKisha Beeland, and grandfather, Earl Charles, feel the same way. He's still the love in Karen Jaceeon and, you know, Cassandra Jaceeon. On August 9, 2022, the eight-year-old received burns over most of his body while at a friend's house when Bradley County Road to 80 in Warn, Charles went from this to this, which led to this, not able to say anything or talk or, you know, really move. He was hospitalized for five months, but on January 20th, he was able to go home to his favorite activities. Now, Jaceeon was only able to show me his video game skills because he's still working on his walking and also his speech. He's still got long ways to go, but we're going to get there. Finally, able to talk again, Jaceeon's mom says he's only told her what she already knew about August 9, a fire erupted when the family Jaceeon was with was outside cooking. They say that family didn't call the police when Jaceeon was burned, which sparked concerns as to why. Now, what's Arkansas State Police continues to investigate? The family is grateful Jaceeon is back home and back to living and dreaming like an eight-year-old shoe. And Jaceeon's mom did tell me that he did speak with ASP for more details on what happened and I reached out to them today for an update, but didn't hear back. The last I heard from ASP was on December 16th, where I was only told, quote, "The investigation remains in an active and ongoing status." We'll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.
