A tree grows in two directions at the same time. Before it can rise, the seed has to go down. Into darkness, resistance, pressure and dirt. The roots have to fight their way deeper before a single leaf exists. And the root system ends up mirroring the fruit system, which means the part nobody sees is the exact size of the part everybody admires. Everybody wants the fruit. Very few people are willing to go through the lonely season that grows it. Here is the part that decides whether you make it through that season. You believe this today, reading it once. Then tomorrow morning arrives and the voice that says nothing is working gets to speak first, in your own voice, before you are even awake enough to argue with it. The season does not break people because it is hard. It breaks people because of what they repeat to themselves while they are in it. There is a one minute window right after you wake, before your eyes open, when your brain is still in theta and takes what it hears as instruction rather than opinion.
