Top three American movies. Number three is The Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz is everything Old Hollywood was about, musical. It's big, it's expensive, there's so much going on with it, and it's also encapsulating of what a lot of American movies are, which is pure escapism. You go to Europe, you go to Asia, you see movies with a lot more emotional, depth, human tones and feelings, and The Wizard of Oz has a lot of human things about it, that's what makes it so great, but nobody else quite does the spectacle the way the USA does. Number two is Gone with the Wind. Because Gone with the Wind over the years, I just keep seeing how deep and complex that movie really is, and I think a lot of people miss out on that. The surface is just kind of a mellow drama, this entitled girl just going from husband to husband and never really learning her lesson. But underneath it, if you really look at it, you're seeing a reflection of the privilege of the type of person that was created by the ugliness of slavery, of the south during the Civil War, and something that made our country so wealthy and great, but also is an ugly reflection of the people who generated it. And Scarlett O'Hara is the perfect person to represent this because you weirdly feel empathy for her going throughout this film, and it shows how phenomenal it is when you can feel empathy for somebody that's sitting on top of so much ugliness. If you like this list and want more about other nonsense, follow me, leave me a comment with the number one American movie in your book, also follow my wife Samantha who I've tagged, happy 4th of July. Check out our brand new podcast, brutally honest, Scott, I couldn't even think of it, with Sam and Jacob everywhere you get your podcast. Number one, because it encapsulates the American dream, and the flaws of the American dream, and the excitement, and everything about it, the greed, the personality that generates from it. I've seen it in other films like There Will Be Blood, and it's done really well, but I think the most perfectly done an example of this is Citizen Kane.
