So have you guys heard of an app called Tubi? If not, Tubi is a free streaming app that you can download on your Smart TV or your phone. It's got a few ads here and there and it's a lot like wandering the aisles of video stores in the late 90s or early 2000s. There are just tons of random video titles that you're like, "What is this movie? I've never even heard of this." That you can click on and watch for free. And I thought since the app is free, I should bring you some suggestions of things you might want to watch on there. So first up is a little movie you may not have heard of called "Frozen." "There we go!" No, no, not that movie. No, no, I'm talking about Adam Green's 2010 suspense thriller "Frozen." The movie follows three friends at a ski resort who decide to jump on the chairlift and get one more run down the hill before the place closes. Only halfway up the lift shuts down and everyone at the resort goes home. Now if this was Aspen or something, there would be people there the next day. But this is a little resort in Massachusetts, which means no one's going to be there for the entire week. And there's a storm coming in. And these three friends trapped high above the ground are about to have to start making some very difficult decisions. I mean, imagine being stuck 100 plus feet in the air, starting to freeze to death, knowing your only real option is to drop and probably break your legs. Oh, and don't forget, um, there are wolves in these woods. Adam Green does a fantastic job of building tension here and there's some great character development between the three. And this wasn't shot in some Hollywood sound stage with the green screen. No, for most of this they were actually suspended high above the ground in the freezing cold. Which is funny because I've seen criticisms like, "Uh, you smoke coming out of your mouth, you look totally fake." Or, "There's not enough smoke coming out of your mouth." Or, "The wolves look CGI." Uh, they were actually out in the cold and the wolves are real. So if you're a fan of watching people suffer for their art, I highly recommend watching Frozen on Toobie.
