Plato's cave describes prisoners chained in a cave, seeing only shadows on a wall, and believing that's all there is. To them, those shadows are reality, but if they could step outside, they would see a sunlit world, and realise those shadows were mere representations. This comment might be wondering if we had something in common with those prisoners. Just as they saw 2D shadows of a 3D world, could we be seeing the shadows of a 4D reality? Is our universe just the cave's wall, where 4D figures cast their silhouettes? Plato urged us to question our perceptions, and pondering the fourth spatial dimension does just that.
