The top five movies where the villain wins. Number five is Avengers Infinity War. Now, I've said many times I don't watch Marvel movies, but everybody says this is a big deal, that whoever Thanos or whatever wins in the movie, I don't care. Number four, one full over the cuckoo's nest. Such an incredible ending that movie is, but it's really on the down beat. It's more about a bigger idea than just these characters. Like Jack Nicholson's character, McMurphy, losing. It has to do with the idea of a system, a corrupt system overpowering the good, and the person that is speaking out against it, and the person with clarity that gets stifled and shut down by a big ugly machine, aka Nurse Ratchet and her fellow nurses. Number three, the silence of the lambs. Such an incredible ending because you go through this horrific tense, maybe one of the tensest scenes in cinema history where Jody Foster is chasing down Buffalo Bill in his creepy basement. But we get this resolution that, oh, he's gone, and the girl is saved from the well. And we forget that to get Hannibal Lecter, she accidentally let an even more disturbed villain free by reducing his sentence and getting him in a less secure facility, which he escaped from. And we realize the worst is yet to come from Mr. Hannibal Lecter. Number two, no country for old men. When I first saw this ending, I was really, really frustrated with this movie. I loved the movie up until the ending. And then I was like, that's it. And over time, I've come to realize that this is one of the most incredible endings ever because it's really showing the lack of justice that goes on in our world and how bad people get away with bad things and good people get taken down. And the old people who are watching it all unravel sit there in shock and awe. If you like this list and want more about other nonsense, follow me, leave me a comment with a movie you love where the villain wins so many great movies, I think of the usual suspects. I think of seven in a lot of ways that both Kevin Spacey winning. He also won with some other villainous activity in real life, but we won't get into that. Also follow my wife, Samantha, who I've tagged and check out our podcast, Brutally Honest with Sam and Jacob wherever you get your podcasts. Number one, one of the most chilling endings in cinema history, I get chills every time I watch this scene because it's such a, I don't know, horrific thing. But in that last line when grabs Jack Nicholson and says, forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown.
