What's the difference between the prepositions, "в" and "на" in Russian? They both express location and trigger the prepositional case. Prepositional is that easy case that expresses location and takes "ye" in all three genders for nouns. So "в" means "in" basically "inside". It's used with physical places that we can enter and exit. For example, "в" in the house, "в" in the store, "в" in Texas. "на" has two meanings. The first meaning is "on" as an "on top of something". For example, "на столе" on the table or "на диване" on the couch. The second meaning of "на" is "at" and that is for activities or events. For example, "на работе" at work or "на уроке" at the lesson. "на вечеримке" at the party, "на концерте" at the concert. And I know it's common to use "at" with some physical locations in English. For example, "at the restaurant" or "at the hospital". But again, in Russian, you can only use "в" with physical places. So whether you're saying "at the restaurant" or "in the restaurant" in Russian, it would be "в ресторане". In the hospital, "at the hospital" in Russian both would be "в" в больнице. So don't say something like "на ресторане" because that would mean "you're on top of the restaurant". - Yeah.
