This is a banana. He is yellow. Yellow. Yes, that's exactly how I say it in Russian. Something that may sound unusual to an English speaker is that we do refer to inanimate nouns as he and she as long as they're masculine and feminine. Eta banan on jolti. This is a banana and then literally he is yellow. Of course in English you would say it's yellow because it's inanimate, but in Russian you always go by the gender. And guys please don't say Eta jolti, because Eta only means this is. You wouldn't say this is a banana, this is yellow. Same for feminine, Eta ruchka. Anna, krassnaja. This is a pen and then literally she is red. And then of course we have neuter nouns. For example, malako, milk. And the neuter it in Russian is anno. Eta malako, anno bilaje. This is milk, it's white. And then for the plural just use anni. Eta ruchka, anni, krassnaja.
