We didn't guess this. We tested it: 500 keywords, 4,300 prompts, three platforms. The result: 75% of AI citations go to pages outside Google's top ten. Rank four on Google and you have a 2.6% chance of showing up in an AI answer. This isn't an edge case. It's the new normal. If you're not auditing which of your pages are getting pulled into AI answers, you're flying blind right now. #SEO #AISearch #ContentMarketing #SearchStrategy #GEO

Ranking number one on Google means almost nothing now and I got the data to prove it. We said 500 commercial keywords and ran 4,300 pounds through chat GPT, perplexity and Google. Raking number one on Google gives you 31% chance of being cited in an AI answer. Rank four, it drops to 2.6%. But the part that broke my brain, 75% of the AI citations don't even go to to pages that rank in Google's top 10. Listen to that again. Three out of four citations don't even go to pages that rank well in Google. Google rank and AI citations are two completely different games. So here's what I actually want you to do. Open Ubersuggest. It plugs directly into Claude chat GPT and even Google Gemini. And you can see which of your pages are getting pulled into A answers and which ones are, as well as which of your competitor pages are getting pulled into A answers and which ones are. That's your map. Look at what those cited pages have in common. Clear structure, direct answers, fresh data, and then reverse engineering. That's how you become the answer instead of the runner up.
