Time travel would be useless. You can go back 1,000 times and fail every single time. There's a theory by physicist Igor Novikov called the Self-Consistency Principle. Basically, the universe won't allow a paradox. Imagine you go back in time to stop your parents from eating, so you're never born. Sound simple, right? Like you're racing yourself from existence? Nope. Because something would always go wrong. You miss the train, you get the wrong date, they meet somewhere else by accident. Or maybe your actions trying to stop them are the exact reason they meet in the first place. According to the theory, if time travel were possible, you were never changing the past, you were always part of it.
