If energy can neither be created nor destroyed, then we have existed since the beginning of time. Long before you had a name, or a face, or a heartbeat, the atoms that make up your body were already here. They drifted through exploding stars, became part of planets, oceans, mountains, and even other living things. Then one day, after billions of years of wandering, they came together and became you. For a few decades, the universe experiences itself through your eyes. You laugh, you make memories, you fall in love, you worry about tomorrow. But maybe this is actually the shortest part of your existence. Because before this life, you simply existed everywhere. And according to physics, when this life ends, the matter and energy that make up your body don't disappear. They leave your name behind, but they don't leave the universe. They become something else, something new. So what if being alive is just a break from eternity?
